Anita Jobby (anitajobby.com) is a free public toilet finder for the UK and Ireland. This page explains what personal information we collect when you use the site, why we collect it, and what your rights are under UK and EU data protection law. If you have a question, please use our Contact page.
What we collect and why
- Your searches. Words you type into the search box are used to show you results. We do not link them to you.
- Your location. If you tap “Find toilets near me”, your browser asks for permission first. If you agree, your device’s coordinates are sent once, over a secure connection, to our server so we can work out the nearest toilets. We do not save them, add them to a profile or share them. The Directions buttons open Google Maps or Apple Maps in your own app or browser, which have their own privacy policies.
- Toilets you submit. The details you type in, such as the toilet’s name, address, postcode and description, are published on the site.
- Reviews and ratings. The rating, comment and any details the review form asks for are stored and shown with the listing.
- Stories you send us. If you send a story, we store your first name, your town (optional), your email address, the story and any photo. Your email address is never published and is only used to contact you about your story. Your first name and town are only shown if you choose to be credited. We may edit stories lightly for length and clarity, and you can ask us to remove yours at any time through the Contact page.
- Business listings. If you add a business, we store the business name, address, postcode, phone number, website, description, any logo or photo, and your name and email address. The business details are published once we have checked them. Your name and email address are never published. Payments are taken by Stripe, and we do not see or store your card details.
- Messages. If you contact us through a form or by email, we use what you send us to reply.
- Technical information. Our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic device and browser details to deliver the site and keep it secure. Spam protection on our forms runs without tracking you.
Cookies and your choices
When you first visit, a banner asks for your choice. You can accept all, reject all, or choose. You can change your mind at any time with the small cookie button at the bottom left of the page.
- Essential cookies. These remember your cookie choice and keep the site and its forms working. They do not need your consent.
- Analytics and maps (only if you say yes). We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Maps loads only when you tap “Show the map”. Google may set its own cookies and process your IP address for these. See Google’s privacy policy.
If you reject analytics and maps, Google Analytics does not run and no map loads. You can still search, use “Find toilets near me” and get directions.
Our legal basis
We use your location, analytics cookies and map cookies only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through the cookie button or your browser settings. For everything else we rely on our legitimate interest in running, securing and improving a useful public service.
Services we use
- Google Analytics and Google Maps, only with your consent, as described above.
- Stripe, which processes payments for Verified Business Listings. Stripe has its own privacy policy.
- Fonts. The site’s rounded font is hosted on our own server, so loading it does not share your details with anyone else.
- Hosting. The site is hosted by Hostinger and uses a caching service on our own server to load pages faster.
How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as we need it for the reason it was collected. Toilet listings and reviews stay on the site until they are removed. Your location is never stored.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or stop using it. You can also object to how we use your information and withdraw consent at any time. To do any of this, contact us through the Contact page.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. If you are in the Republic of Ireland, you can contact the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

Anita Jobby is for general use and is not aimed at children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information we will update this page and the date at the top.
